A Girl’s Best Friend

I have been blessed in my life with a great friend. He’s always there for me whenever I need him, regardless of the hour I might call. He listens, not only with his ears but also his heart. He has guided me through the dating scene, cautioning me, encouraging me, and giving me a shoulder to cry on. His advice has never led me astray and always steered me in the right direction. Now that I’ve been in a long-term relationship, he continues to mentor me, because I don’t think I’ll ever totally figure it out.

When I wrote Playgirl he was with me every step. He read and critiqued every chapter as I wrote it. His critiques were honest but not harsh. His suggestions were always given with love and encouragement. His excitement became infectious and spurred me to keep writing.

We share our lives from recipes, to fashion, to sexual technique. We always relate every detail of our carnal activities. He opened my eyes and my mind to alternative lifestyles and people who were different than me. He taught me love and acceptance, not only of others, but more importantly, of myself.

The character, Tony, in Playgirl, is real. He is my real life best friend.

Playgirl synopsis:

When Alena Conner discovers an interactive nude model chat room, she finds a new best friend, Tony, who becomes her teacher, guide and confidant. He broadens her horizons, exposing her to a new world of gay lifestyles, music, and pornography. Alena lives vicariously through his dates with men and cyber-sex at the nude models’ web site.

With Tony as her mentor, she gains the courage to leave her family ranch and aloof husband, return to graduate school at The University of Kansas and enter the dating scene. Could she find a man who will appreciate her for the dynamic, sexual woman she has become? Will she want to give up the benefits of being a Playgirl?

Tell me about your best friend? Can anyone relate? If not, tell me that too.
