Why I’m Not Voting for Adam Lambert

It’s not because he’s gay. (Hello? I’m editing an anthology titled I Kissed a Girl.) It’s not because he dresses in drag. He definitely has the most talent of any contestant on American Idol, past, present and probably future. So why am I not voting for him? Because I believe being the American Idol will actually hold him back. Adam is already a star. I can’t even fathom how many recording companies are hoping he loses.

There is much media controversy over the control American Idol (19 Management Company) maintains over its winners, i.e. Kelly Clarkson. Adam needs to put American Idol behind him, move on to the best offer and write his own contract that will allow him to be who he truly is. America is ready! We’ve demonstrated that by voting him into the finals. But now, we the voters, need to step back and give him control of his own destiny.

Kris Allen, on the other hand, needs the American Idol engine behind him to boost him into stardom. Kris is talented, no doubt. I’ve liked him from the beginning. He has an excellent voice, he’s creative, has musicality, and his acoustic ballads are memorable, plus tweeners adore him. He’ll be a worthy Idol.
And let Adam be the star he was born to be!

I voted for Kris too. And I am gay, so I’ve taken plenty of flack for that. But I like Kris’ style better than Adam’s. And you’re right, Adam is already a star.

Thanks for the comment, Ryan. Can’t tell you how much I appreciate you following my blog. And btw, I took advantage of the half-price audio sale today and bought Officer and His Gentleman. I can’t wait to listen to it. Regina

Regina – what I loved most about Adam was that, despite his acting background, he seemed to be so genuine in his respect for the band and the judges’ comments. He had class. Not that the others didn’t; in fact, this round of Idols all had impressive character, but I’ve never seen another Idol turn around and thank the band after each performance. With so much nastiness and snark out there in the world today, it’s refreshing to see a young man displaying manners and respect. Good for him. Oh, and he totally rocks, too!

PS – can’t wait to read I Kissed A Girl!

Regina – I agree. Don’t get to keep up with American Idol living in Costa Rica, but was wowed by Adam immediately. He doesn’t need the restrictions nor the venue. He’s a star.
Haven’t heard from your publisher yet. So excited you liked “God’s Caveman”. Guess I should give them a nudge. HOw’s the anthology going? My son bought “Playgirl”. Will read it when I return to FL on his Kindle.
