Ravenous Romance released I KISSED A GIRL: A VIRGIN LESBIAN ANTHOLOGY today!

“This book is what erotic writing is all about. I highly recommend this for all avid readers of erotica or for those willing to explore a new genre.” –You Gotta Read Reviews (rated “You Gotta Read,” the highest rating)

You’ve heard Katy Perry’s hit song, now read enticing stories of heterosexual women exploring new boundaries. College dormitories become breeding grounds of inquisitive minds and libidos with roommates discovering desire for each other as they relate past experiences, undress in each other’s presence, seek refuge from a storm, discover a dildo or share men. Continuing life’s path, ingenious women find ways to enhance marriage or the workplace. Champagne cellars, riding stables, tanning salons, even historical English bedchambers become hotbeds of lesbian experiments. Converting or not, all embrace the journey of sexual exploration.

Introduction
Katy Perry’s hit song I Kissed a Girl brought bisexuality to the forefront. I admit I
was amazed when I heard my neighbor’s five-year-old daughter singing the entire song,
never missing a word or beat. Alternative lifestyles are open for discussion—no longer
taboo.
Since Dr. Alfred Kinsey released his first reports on human sexual behavior in
1948, society has been in the process of accepting that almost all healthy men and women
have some homosexual tendencies. Instead of hiding these inclinations in shame, it’s time
to celebrate our desires and be comfortable in our own skin. No labels, no judgment—
only enlightenment and tolerance.
I’m not suggesting that all humans are bisexual. As I have discovered, being
aroused by an erotic story doesn’t label anyone. I can get excited reading BDSM, but
don’t try spanking me in bed. Because I am passionate about same-sex erotica does not
make me bisexual, but it has enhanced my ability to love and accept.
This anthology is a collection of lesbian first-time encounters. I am delighted with
the diversity of this collection. I hope you enjoy and share my passion for exploring new
boundaries.

Within a few days I had a response from Lori Perkins informing me she had found “Jackie” entertaining and looked forward to reading the manuscript. I was ecstatic. I sent Sunday Girl to her with this note of warning: “While sex plays a pivotal role in the self-realization of the heroine, it is not the only element in her transformation from repressed matron to a free, ageless woman.”

Anxiously, I waited for a response having no idea how inundated agents were with manuscripts. Eighteen months later, I gave up and proceeded to self-publish. The day before the commitment was finalized I received an email from Lori informing me she had a publisher who might be interested in my novel if I was willing to rewrite it. She had my attention. Little did I realize how much re-writing was required.

Ravenous Romance is an erotic romance publisher. I had to sprinkle erotic scenes throughout and add a happy for now ending with a new love interest. Sunday Girl was over 100,000 words. Ravenous Romance wanted fewer than 50,000. After much angst and deliberation I signed the contract. I aborted two of the lead character’s sons, cut out the second half of the story, negotiated multiple love interests instead of just one, and elaborated on sex scenes which had only been alluded to previously.

Playgirl was born, and I have been very pleased with the result. My message came across more powerfully. The heroine learns to accept and embrace her sexuality that had haunted her for many years. I grew as a writer and a woman.
Ravenous Romance has been an outstanding and supportive publisher. They have cutting-edge ideas with endless energy to pioneer the e-book industry. Thank you to Holly Schmidt and the staff at Ravenous. Thank you, Lori Perkins!

In case you haven’t already figured me out, I’m new to all this. In fact, it all became so overwhelming I had to take a hiatus the last couple of months to regroup. Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, Websites, Yahoo groups just became too much. All I really wanted to do was write and to be totally honest, erotic romance wasn’t what I wanted to write. So I didn’t. I’ve been writing a memoir about my relationship with my father. I’m not sure of the title just yet, but I am sure of the subtitle: A Love Story.

And now that I’ve been grounded, I’m ready to venture back into this new territory once again and try another blog post, which brings me back to the topic of this post: How did I get into this erotic romance business in the first place?
Six years ago I divorced the man I’d been with since I was fifteen. No, he didn’t run off with a younger woman and leave me heart-broken and alone. I was kind of the one who did that, only regardless of what you might think if you read “Tan Lines,” I didn’t fall in love with a woman.

I turned to writing in an attempt to understand what was going on in my crazy, mixed up mind/heart or whatever it was that seemed to have taken over my being. In the beginning, I wrote non-fictional pieces: essays, character sketches, etc. I submitted a piece for acceptance into a Sarasota Writers Group. Each time my work was critiqued, it seemed to me they were critiquing my life instead of my writing. It was a very emotional, reflective, self-incriminating time for me. At the end of the year, the leader devoted a brainstorming session to my work, asking the group to help me determine what I should do with it. The consensus was that I should turn it into fiction.

Aha, it was my answer. Almost immediately my mind began spinning fictional scenes and characters depicting my issues. I could remove myself from the emotion. I found a way to be objective about my life and my writing, to learn and grow as an author.

A novel was born, and two years later I had a completed, edited manuscript titled, Sunday Girl. Bright-eyed and bushy tailed, as the saying goes, I attended the Florida Writers Conference (FWA) and signed up to meet agents. It was there, in 2006, that I first met Lori Perkins. My novel had one spicy chapter, and I’d read that she was interested in erotica so I converted Chapter 5 into a short story, “Jackie.”

……… to be continued ………

New short story just released from Ravenous Romance, “Tan Lines.” I’m sure you’ve all heard Katie Perry’s hit song, “I Kissed a Girl.” Well, “Tan Lines” has a similar situation. Two heterosexual women become aroused when they discover themselves in a tanning salon, half-naked. One begins exploring and the other one encourages it. It’s safe to sum up … they liked it!

I admit I’m bi-curious in my imagination, but when I get in a real-life situation it’s just not there. Still, I loved writing this story and found it very arousing. I think you might too. Bi or not.

Have you ever found yourself in a comprising situation with someone of the same sex? Was there tempatation? Did you give in to it? Did you like it?

I want to hear from you. Even if you don’t want to answer my questions or comment on the blog, just sign in and say hi. I’d love to get to know you.

Hugs,

This short sotry is actually a prequel to the novel, Playgirl. When Alena Conner discovered the Playgirl interactive website, one of the first nude models she encountered was Brett. Having the good fortune to find him alone one afternoon, Brett teaches her the ins and outs of cyber sex. And trust me, Brett is an expert!

The Brettsturbation session is referenced in Chapter 5 of Playgirl. If you like this, you’ll love Playgirl. So tell me, what gets you going? What do you think about when you masterbate? How do you do it? Tell me….
